A brief introduction to the Santiago theory of cognition by Fritjof Capra in Resurgence Magazine. First proposed by Gregory Bateson and elaborated by Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela, this theory overturns the militaristic analogies so often applied to the functioning and purpose of our immune systems and introduces a far more intelligent (in all ways) description of our functioning which supports the theories and practices of holistic medical therapies.
